Product Details
Guangchang County has long been known as the “Lotus Hometown” and was named one of “China’s Most Beautiful Lotus Hometowns.” Historically prized as “tribute lotus” and regarded as a “gem among lotuses,” it has consistently enjoyed strong sales both at home and abroad.
White lotus seeds are large, round, with thin shells and thick, fleshy kernels, boasting a delicate, sweet, and moist flavor that is subtly sweet yet refreshingly fresh. They can be used as an ingredient in pastries or combined with white fungus and coix seeds, sweetened with rock sugar, to simmer a clear, creamy, and sweet lotus-seed soup. The seed and fruit of the lotus—the lotus seed—appear after the lotus flower has withered: on the flower stalks develop lotus pods, which are funnel-shaped and resemble inverted cones. Inside these pods are numerous honeycomb-like small cavities, within which the lotus seeds grow.
Carefully processed lotus seeds are oval-shaped, large and plump, perfectly white and smooth, with a delicious, fresh, sweet flavor and a rich, mellow aroma that is both fragrant and refreshing.
It is commonly used to simmer “white sugar lotus seed soup” and to make “eight-treasure rice,” among other culinary applications. In addition to being cooked, lotus seeds can also be processed into canned goods, pastries, and refreshing beverages. White lotus seeds are exported far and wide, both domestically and internationally, and are particularly popular in Southeast Asia.
